Pakhtunkhwa government allocates Rs3.12 billion for CPEC security
PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has allocated Rs3.12 billion for security of projects under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
According to the provincial government’s figures, Rs1.56 billion have been released for Police Department for the PC-1. The government has also allocated Rs1.11 billion for appointment of 3,807 security personnel and payment of their salaries. Rs851.7 million have been allocated for purchase of vehicles, Rs35 million have been earmarked for purchase of other equipment, Rs900 million have been earmarked for purchase of weapons and Rs75.4 million have been earmarked for uniforms of security personnel.
The government said appointment of security personnel is continuing. It said the former security officials will be given preference in the selection process. It said the newly-appointed security personnel will assist the Pakistan Army personnel in security duties. -TNN
