Pakistani militias fencing border inside Barmal district: residents
SHARANA: Local residents on Thursday claimed the Pakistani militia forces have started fencing the border area inside Barmal district of southeastern Paktika province.
They said the border fencing on the Afghan land in Zawaba Mountain of Angoor Ada area by Pakistani forces follows the cutting of pine-nut trees and establishing military installations in main areas of the mountain.
Wazir Tribal Council head in Barmal district, Haji Qudratullah Wazir, told Pajhwok Afghan News that hundreds of Pakistani workers were busy fencing the mountain which belonged to Afghanistan.
“Pakistan has advanced three kilomteres inside Afghanistan, but the government is still silent, ” he said, adding tribal elders, youth and even women of the area were ready to defend and fight for their soil.
Another tribal elder of the area, Mubariz Wazir, also confirmed the issue, saying tribes were being bisected by the Pakistani violation. He said the government should prevent such acts by Pakistani militia because local people would suffer
Meanwhile, another tribal elder, Sardar, said Pakistani’s advancement into Afghanistan should be stopped. “Afghan border guards are on stand-by but the government has so far issued no order. Border police aren’t alone, all area people strongly stand with them.”
Barmal border police commander Raz Mohaamad, acknowledged the issue, saying they were awaiting orders from government leaders. He didn’t go into details when he said residents strongly supported border police on the matter.
