Three-day anti-polio drive to begin in KP, Fata tomorrow

PESHAWAR: A three-day anti polio campaign would begin in 12 districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and FATA on Monday amid tight security.
More than thirty-two lac children up to five years of age will be administered anti-polio drops during the campaign.
KP Anti-polio Department ECO said that the three-day anti-polio drive would be carried out in Peshawar, Haripur, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Batagram, Kohistan, Torghar, Shangla, Swat, Upper Dir, Lower Dir and Chitral districts of KP. He said that more than twenty-nine lac children up to five years of age will be administered anti-polio drops during the campaign in KP. He said up to eight thousand teams have been deployed for the drive.
Tight security arrangements have been made for the anti-polio drive to avoid any untoward incident.
Meanwhile, Fata EOC said that three-day anti-polio drive would be carried out in Khyber Agency, South Waziristan Agency, FR Tank and FR DI Khan. He said that anti-polio drops would also be administered to children repatriated from Afghanistan to Ghulam tehsil of North Waziristan Agency. More than 3.5 lac children up to five years of age will be administered anti-polio drops during the campaign in Fata. He said up to 1450 teams have been deployed for the drive.
Special security measures have been taken to ensure security of polio teams.
It is pertinent to mention, this year three children were tested positive for polio across the country. So far no polio case was surfaced in KP and Fata. -TNN
