Khyber Agency elders refuse to vaccinate kids against polio
Elders of Mulagori area of Khyber Agency on Monday announced refused to vaccinate their children against polio to press the government to construct health and educational facilities.
The decision to boycott polio drive was made at a Jirga held at Bara Darra and threatened to fine Rs50,000 on those who administer polio drops to their children.
The elders said that there was only one primary school in the area for 3000 population with no road and prolonged power outages.
They complained they were left with no option but to refuse to vaccinate their children against polio to press the government to accept their demands.
Talking to Tribal News Network, Raz Muhammad said that single dispensary could not be constructed since last 70 years let alone a hospital.
He said that most of women give birth to their children on way to hospitals.
He said that roads were in shambles due to which patients in serious health condition breathe their last on way to hospital.
“If dying elders could not draw attention of authorities towards our problems then let our children cripple too may it could force them give us our basic rights,” commented Muhammad
