Truck falls into river as Sardaryab bridge collapses in Charsadda
CHARSADDA: One person was killed and three others sustained injuries when a truck fell into Sardaryab river in Charsadda after collapse of a bridge on Friday night.
Police said a part of the bridge collapsed when a truck carrying cement from Peshawar to Charsadda was travelling on it. Four people were sitting in the truck when it fell into the river. The truck driver died on the spot, while three other people were injured in the incident. The local people rescued the injured persons and shifted them to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Charsadda.
Police said the truck was loaded with 400 bags of cement. They said the truck is still lying in the river and heavy machinery is required to bring it out. The British-era bridge was constructed in 1937.
